This vacuum does everything! It’s got the liftoff part, it can handle wood floors, it can do carpets it does it all!!!! Steps can do your car(might need an extension cord) this bad boy can do it all! I love the attachments for it! And I love that the wand can detach too! One for longer reaches like curtains! And a short one as well! I prefer the long wand because who really wants to bend over if you don’t have too! It gets in all small areas! Does everything! Have a cat? It vacuums up that so easy! I also love that you can control the suction strength! Depending on what kind of floor your vacuuming!

BISSELL Zing Rewind Bagless Canister Vacuum, Corded

Editor Rating:

Bissell is a solid brand name for vacuums and their Zing compact is a great hard floor vacuum. You can cover more ground with the Zing, easily switching from carpet to hardwood settings with the simple flip of a switch. This can make vacuuming your floors a breeze! With visible suction control, you can adjust the settings to fit your needs and clean multiple surfaces, like furniture or curtains, safely and without causing damage.

The lightweight, bagless design eliminates the need to change or purchase bags after every use, reducing your costs. Different from an upright vacuum, the canister wheels behind you as you clean with the vacuum wand, making hard to reach areas effortless to clean. The retractable cord makes for easy storage and at just 11 pounds, you can easily transfer the vacuum to whichever area you need to clean. The price is lower compared to most vacuum cleaners for wooden floors, which gives bargain hunters a bang for their buck.

Great Bissell Zing Rewind Bagless Canister Vacuum. Works well for me on the hard floor surface and helps to pick up the cat and dog hair. I used to waste my time sweeping with a brush into a dustpan and then using a dust mop only to see tons of fur when the sun shined on the floor. This Zing vacuum for hardwood gets it all up very quickly. It is very lightweight, and the handle easily turns to change direction. My criticisms are that the power cord is too short, it is quite loud, and I wish it didn't have any bristles at all. They just catch the dog hair and then I have to clean them off. I would get another one, no question.

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional with Dust-Away & 2 Microfiber Pads (NV356E)

Editor Rating:

When it comes to a hardwood vacuum, one of the most popular choices you are going to find is Shark. You will find that this particular option is one of the better ones you are going to find. While this is a bagless model, the emptying process couldn’t be easier thanks to an easy release button to dispose. Additionally, you’re going to enjoy the lift away option with just the touch of a button that allows you to clean in all of the hard to reach areas of your home.

Furthermore, there is a dust-away hard floor attachment along with microfiber pads that actually work to pick up the large debris while also getting the fine dust that is collected on the bare floors as well. This is a great Vacuum For Hard Floors if you happen to worry about allergies because it has a HEPA filter and it traps nearly 99.9% of the dust and allergens to stay inside the filter. Last but not least, this vacuum is incredibly powerful and lightweight so you can easily bring it with you where you need to at just 13 pounds.

This is a really good Shark Lift-Away vacuum for hardwood for the cost. It works well, and it's lightweight and easy to manage. The dirt collecting bin releases easily and normally perfectly. There is still scope for improvement, but I haven't got an ideal vacuum cleaner yet, including the much-hyped Dyson. Despite all of the cons, I would give the Lift-Away NV356E a firm four stars. I've been using it most days for a couple months, and it goes great so far. There is no way to assess stability or constancy until this model has been out longer. I would suggest this Vacuum For Hard Floors as a moderately-priced option to other high-end cyclonic machines on the market. I see no disparity in performance, so why overpay just for the cachet of owning a more valuable brand? If the reliability holds up, this less costly type will prove to be the better option.

The dual tank technology on this wood floor vacuum is excellent because it works to keep the clean and dirty water separate for one another so you never have to put dirty water back onto the floor you are trying to clean. Additionally, you can use this either wet or dry so that it can suction up the excess water or it can be used dry for better results. A friend recommended this vacuum to me, and it has saved me so much time, energy and effort. I vacuum and mop every other day because of the high traffic in my home. The dirty tank always surprises me when j go to dump it out. My hardwood floors feel smooth and actually clean when I am done with it. I was also fostering four kittens this past month. During the time I had to keep them separated from our other animals, they stayed in our bathroom. Well, it was a pooptastrophe almost daily in there. The Hoover floormate made cleaning the floors so simple. After a quick vacuum, I would have the floormate loaded with the solution and a few quick passes on the tile was all I needed. Poop smears came off quickly, and my floors were clean. It pretty much saved my sanity during this time.

Editor Rating:

In the world of the hard Floor Vacuum, it is pretty difficult to go wrong when you hear the Bissell brand name and this is going to be one of the better options you will find on them all when it comes to this list. This powerful yet easy cleaning vacuum helps to delicately clean and protect your floor surfaces. If you like to have easy and total control over everything that your vacuum does. Lastly, the easy empty dirt tank opens from the bottom so that you can easily dispose of the contents with no mess and you’re also going to enjoy a two-year warranty in case anything goes wrong with the product.

It is excellent on wooden floors, low-pile carpet and also upholstery. I use the rolling brush accessory for the hardwood and the tile floor. Then I used the carpet accessory on the hard floor setting for the lino and concrete. The carpet tool goes excellent on my throw rugs that can't go in the washing machine. I think the grime cup is ok for the size, and I don't mind emptying this regularly. The power cord could have been somewhat longer, but again, I didn't mind moving it around. I love the pivot functionality of the cleaning head on this Bissell 1161 vacuum so that I can get around and under everywhere with comparative ease.

Switching from carpet to hardwood is right at your fingertips, allowing you to effortlessly change settings while cleaning. This Vacuum Cleaner is all about options: hardwood and carpet settings, wand and hand vacuum, even storage. With the power to choose, you can customize this vacuum to fit your cleaning needs.

This is what you said...

This Vacuum Cleaner is incredible. I’ve got three kids in a modest house, and every square inch seems to get messed up on a daily basis. I just had the house cleaned professionally last week. And I still had a FULL dustbin of gunk after vacuuming my main rooms (living room, dining, kitchen, and hallway for ten minutes) I haven’t used all the pieces that this vac came with yet, but I’ve used the vac brush to roll smoothly over my laminate floors and the living room carpet. I love how I can even vacuum my kitchen floor and really get under the edge of the cabinets and in all the corners. It’s a pretty versatile vacuum cleaner for wooden floors.

Dirt Devil Razor Pet Steerable Bagless Upright Vacuum UD70355B

Editor Rating:

Dirt Devil has long been a trusted name for vacuum products, and their Razor upright vacuum doesn’t disappoint. The design was made specifically for cleaning multiple surfaces, and you have the option to turn the premium brush roll on or off to easily transfer from carpet to Hard Floors. The thin nylon bristles effectively catch debris on carpet, and the heavy suction clears away dust and dirt on hardwood floors. This is what you said...

I like this hardwood vacuum. It has great suction power and brush change it is almost self-propelled on the carpeting and works well on both my low carpets and hardwood floors. I have pets with long hairs, so it is taking a workout. Unlike my old vacuum (cheaper and with fewer tools) dirt devil, it isn't very noisy and is an ideal Vacuum. The only grievance is with how powerful the suction is you have to take care going on to area rugs and throws; it can suck the edge right up and then you have to turn it off and pull five inches of a rug or cover out of it.

PROS

VonHaus 600W 2-in-1 Corded Upright Stick & Handheld Vacuum Cleaner with HEPA Filtration

Editor Rating:

You may have noticed a pattern on this list of name brand vacuums with glowing reputations. However, the VonHaus vacuum proves that it doesn’t need to be a household name to effectively clean hardwood. Designed to handle multiple surfaces, you can easily glide this around carpet and will be a great Vacuum For Wood Floors. If allergies are a concern, the HEPA Filtration system prevents the spread of allergens by trapping small particles that would otherwise be re-circulated into the room.

The 1.3 liter dust tank reduces the need for frequent emptying and chances are you can clean your whole house without having to clear the bin. When you do need to empty the tank, it easy to remove and empty. This is so you can avoid spilling dust back into the area you just cleaned. The versatile design allows you to lift away the canister at the touch of a button, turning the vacuum into a handheld device for portable cleaning. Depending on the design of your house, the 19.5 foot power cord gives you range to clean multiple rooms without having to switch outlets. Needless to say, this Vacuum For Wood Floors can go the distance.

This is what you said...

Just what I was searching for and more. Needed a small stick vac/handheld dust vac to clean up my wooden floor and around the baby's room and in the kitchen-mainly for dog hair and loose morsels (after getting little strains of dog hair stuck to my preemie bottle nipples and of course my husband likes to munch and walk around leaving bits of crumb on the ground). This stick Vacuum For Wood Floors fits the bill perfectly. Much louder than the cordless dirt devil dust vac we currently own (that's dying), but the suction is phenomenal on this little guy. Not only did it pick up the dog hair, but there is some dust/ dog dander that got picked up as well which was not expected.

PROS

  • check
    Multi-surface cleaning

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Linx Bagless Corded Cyclonic Lightweight Stick Vacuum SH20030

Editor Rating:

Hoover, possibly the most recognized name on this list, proves once again that the confidence in their products is not a coincidence. The Linx swiftly transfers from hardwood areas to rugs and low piling carpets with ease, due to it’s powered brushroll and cyclonic technology. Non-marring wheels protect your floors from scratching while permitting easy navigation. With just three, clicks into place pieces, assembly is quick and simple, so you can start vacuuming right away.

Although this stick vacuum does not come with accessories, like a crevice cleaner or brush attachment, the edge cleaning bristles help to remove dirt along the edges of your walls and baseboards. The sleek design allows easy handling and can reach further under furniture than most upright designs. If you are not a fan of lugging bulky vacuums throughout the house to clean, these lightweight Vacuums For Hardwood Floors are a great alternative and could be a great option for you.

This is what you said...

I would have to say that this Hoover Vacuums for is the best of the stick vacs. We have had different kinds previously. The Hoover far exceeds the others as far as suction and stability. It has a hardwood floor setting that really works! The carpeting setting uses the bar and makes the average noise only a tad more moderate. It picks up even that lint that sticks to the carpet on the first pass! Gets all the pet hair up too. The dust cup is a bit small so needs to be emptied after each area, but it simple to empty into the garbage, so it’s certainly not a problem. The Cord length is ideal. Filters are washable and replaceable. One thing I don’t like is that the handle height is not adjustable on this vac. I’m 5’6” and it’s okay, but for someone a lot smaller, it could be a difficulty. That being said, as far as Vacuums For Hardwood Floors are concerned I would highly recommend it!

This two in one vacuum provides versatility and ease when use as a vacuum for hardwood. The Lithium battery can last up to 20 minutes when fully charged, giving you plenty of time to vacuum and large areas, or even your entire house, in one battery lifespan. With consistent suction, you can vacuum quickly and efficiently across multiple services.

This is what you said...

I have had 2 of these 2-1 Stick and Handheld Vacuum. I completely wore the first one out and was 100% happy with it. So much so, we ordered and second one. I have since bought one for my boys flat. This Electrolux is a excellent Vacuum For Hardwood, vinyl, and tile floors! It is not meant to vacuum carpets in my own opinion. It has exceptional suction and is rechargeable. I adore it! NO Criticisms. Do not purchase it with the idea that you want to use for carpeted rooms, you will be dissatisfied. A little kitchen sink mat occasionally is fine.

What Is The Best vacuum cleaner for hardwood floor?

 Things to Consider

Weight

Depending on what you want to do with your vacuum, you really need to make sure that you are paying close attention to the overall weight of the vacuum.  Because it can really be a crucial determination in the overall performance of the vacuum.

There are a ton of options to choose from and some of them are specifically designed to be lightweight and easy to transport while others are going to be built solid and heavy without much of a care regarding the weight.

If you want to be able to move the vacuum easily from place to place or room to room, then I would highly suggest looking for a lightweight option that you can easily lift up and carry when you need to.

Size

The size of the vacuum is somewhat related to the weight because typically the bigger the vacuum you buy, the heavier it is going to be. therefore its is important to know all of the other reasons why the size is important.

You want to make sure that you get a good balance between finding a vacuum that is large enough to accommodate the area you plan on using it in.  However,  you also want to make sure it isn’t so large that you can’t manage it.

Additionally, you need to worry about the storage space required for the vacuum because if it is too large, it will be tough to fit in a closet to store.

Try and find a vacuum that fits both of these requirements so that it is big enough to handle the area you need but small enough to be stored with ease.

Bagged or bagless

Even with all the advances we’ve had over the last several years when it comes to technology and vacuums, you will find that there are still both bagged or bagless options so you can easily choose which is best.

Cost and allergies are two of the biggest differences when it comes to these options. With a bagless option, you will find that you save money because you don’t need to continue buying bags.

But this could aggravate your allergies when you dispose of the debris after each use. For the bagged option, you have to spend money to make sure that you always have bags. The good thing is that the debris is contained inside the bag to help prevent allergies. If you suffer from allergies, you’re going to want to go with a bagged option despite the higher cost.

Noise

I really wish there was a way around this but unfortunately all vacuums are going to be loud and there isn’t a lot you can do with it. There are some models that you will find that we have reviewed today, that are actually designed to be quieter to use. However, they will still produce a pretty fair amount of noise.

If you’re one of the people that don’t mind the noise of the vacuum, then this isn’t going to bother you.  But there are some people that can’t use a loud vacuum because of pets, children or some other reason.

If this is you, try and pay attention to the noise level of the vacuum. In a perfect world you can find a quieter, lower noise level vacuum but understand that it might not make as big of a difference as you hope it will.

 attachments

You pretty much know what you are getting when it comes to buying a vacuum for hardwood floors.  But one of the big things that can change from unit to unit is the different attachments included with your purchase. If you have used one before, you know having a lot of attachments on your vacuum can be really helpful and will provide you with the best chance of getting a really clean house every time you use it.

Some of the Floor Vacuum attachments you find will help to clean the corners and baseboards of your house while others focus on the upholstery you have in the home. There’s not necessarily a reason to spend a ton of money on a vacuum just because it comes with a ton of attachments.  But finding one in the same price range that has more hardwood floor attachments can make for a much more enjoyable experience when you use the vacuum.

Motor Power

If you don’t get a good motor with a lot of power, then you will not have a ton of success when it comes to vacuuming because you have to find a vacuum with enough power to pick up everything you need. Luckily, you’ll find that you don’t need as much power when you are using the vacuum on hardwood floors but you still need to pay attention to it because chances are good that you will still use it on carpet.

Don’t get fooled by some of the bells and whistles boasted by the company selling the vacuum because the amps and the motor power aren’t the most important things. Pay close attention to the airflow of the unit because the better the airflow, the more suction you will get which is what actually works to pick up all of the debris around you.

Brush Roll Option

This is one of those options that might not be as important when it comes to some other materials you may vacuum.  But for hardwood this can be incredibly important. With some of the vacuums, you can get the choice of having the brush roll on or of. You’re going to want to have it off when you are on wood floors types because that will ensure that nothing gets scattered around the floor as you are working. Additionally, it can help to prevent any scratches you might experience when you are using it.

Performance

If you don’t have good performance, then it really doesn’t matter what else you do and the performance essentially comes down to both the suction and the airflow. You can pay attention to anything you want to but you need to make sure the suction and airflow are strong to pick up just about anything it runs over while cleaning. I strongly recommend looking for a powerful and strong motor with a high power rating because it will help get the job done in the best way possible.

Price

Lastly, you need to pay close attention to the price since it can really differ depending on what you might want when it comes to the vacuum. It is really easy for you to spend more money than you wanted to so I really recommend setting a budget and sticking to it. As long as you are honest with your budget, you will still have no problem getting a great vacuum to fit within your price range.

Final Verdict

After reviewing these excellent options, we determined the Dirt Devil Razor Pet Steerable Bagless Upright as the highest recommended vacuum for hardwood floors. As we reviewed, there are many options to consider when purchasing a vacuum.

While you should keep in mind reviews and other considerations, the Dirt Devil Razor is an option that meets nearly all the criteria for a great hardwood vacuum. As a bagless option that reduces allergens, it provides benefits of bags while saving costs, unlike the Electrolux, which requires additional purchases for paper filters.

The lightweight design and additional attachments make this a versatile tool for home cleaning, as opposed to the Hoover Linx, a product that only focuses on floors. Unlike some options that require frequent unclogging, or the cordless option that limits vacuuming time, the powerful suction allows un-interrupted vacuuming. It’s size and weight make it an portable vacuum that can easily be transferred to any area of the house without being cumbersome.

And at its current price, it’s a bargain for a product that easily holds its own against some of the more expensive competitors. Keeping all of these benefits in mind, it’s easy to see why the Dirt Devil Razor is a winning option.
